Do You Drive A Pimp Car?

I drive a pimp car.

I would like to make my newest entry about my Mandi.  Well, she's not really mine persay, butshe is my girlfriend, and we are in love in a big way, so in a lot of ways I am hers and she is mine.  Anyhow, back to the point.  Lately, she and I have been having a LONG spat about our religions- I am Catholic and she has made it clearly known that she will be anything but.  Yea, talk about a real hard, low blow.  Oh well, I don't really see any resolution to this issue, but I guess its not really that important right now.  It's just that my religion is something that I have alway had a very deep love for, which I can't say about too much else, and I never saw myself with anyone but a "sweet little Catholic girl," and I know it would kill her to hear that, because she wouldn't understand that, while she's not a little Catholic girl, she certianly is very sweet, and I do love her, I just don't know if I can love her more than I love my God.

For all of those whom actually care about my car (God bless you all), I drive a '72 Old's Cutlass Supreme convertable.  I have spent much time and money to get it in its current state, and have much more effort and finances that need to be added- this is my dream car and will be treated as such.  I got it when I was 16 years old and have gradually redone almost everything under the hood.  It's running a 350 that has been bored over .040 and has had everything but the heads replaced- those have had some serious machine work though.  All and all it's probably putting out around 600 ft/lbs. and about 530 hp.- great for some people but still a long way off for me- its running fairly low compression- about 9.8, but its on purpose due to the 150hp NO2 that will be added either over Christmas break or during the coming summer.  There's only two problems to currently speak of- bald tires (I wonder why) and a lousy 2.73 differential- that WILL be changed to a 3.4 posi, but that requires money- something that doesn't come easy to a 17 year old

Thought for the day (Sept. 25) why is it that cars that are built for economy have engines that can spin to the moon?  The problem with creating an engine that can rev to 8000 rpm, is that your torque is absolutely terrible.  I mean take a look at your typical high mpg ricer, they only have about 50 ft/lb of torque, at max they would have 150.  To those who have no idea what this is, it could sound like a lot, but take your typical truck, or even better a disiel, they can make 400-700 ft/lb of torque and it's not that impressive.  It is also true that torque is what gets the car moving to begin with, and hp, is the speed at wich the work is done, and since trucks have a higher load of wieght, especially when they are towing they should have a higher amount of torque, but that much higher?  A car has to somehow recieve enough torque in order to accelerate at a reasonable pace, especially important in 1st and 2nd gears,  and to do this they just but a set of 5.** or 6.** gears in the differential, which will transfer the hp into more torque, but at a loss of final speed, so in order to have the drive axels moving at the same speed as that of a car with a 3.27 differential it needs deliver about twice as many rpms, which in turn creates faster combustion and more gas spent.  So why not design an engine to run at lower rpm, say 6000 max, deliver decent torque, about 300-400 ft/lbs, and put in a numericly lower differential gear?  The engine would then be required to make less revolutions per mile, thus increasing engine life, the economy would stay relatively the same (may fluctuate in either direction) and it would be possible to tow a trailer with the lower gears in the transmission being used, and possibly an overdrive, thus a car would become more useful, retain same economy, and the only drawback would be the additinal wieght (the only way to easily get more torque is to increase the displacement, and that would either require a stroked engine which might decrease the durability of the engine; it is also possible to create a larger bore which would increase the size of the block, crank, heads, manifolds, ect..................
SO at a cost of a few hundred pounds of additional wieght, a more durable, and powerful car could be produced, with little affect made on the economy-\

Why can't Japan think of this stuff:?

Today's addition will be a momnent of reflection:
I'd just like to give thanks to God for all he has blessed me with.  I have an absolutely fabulous girl whom I'm head over heels in love with.  She makes every part of my day better, she makes makes my life complete.  There is nothing that I could ever ask for but to have her by myside- everything else is forgotten when she's with me because I know that I have nothing to worry about, when I'm with her I have more in my life than I ever dreamt of, she's my one and my only.

Today's news is that I have finally put pictures up.......I can't believe it either.
